Prominent LGBTQ advocate Marni Panas and Kate Beneteau married during a sunny, summer ceremony in Patricia Lake Park in Griesbach on June 30, 2019. Surrounded by friends, chosen family and supporters, some traveling from eastern Canada, Beneteau and Panas said their vows as a rainbow flag, symbolizing the LGBTQ community, and a Canadian flag fluttered in the breeze.
Officiant, and Edmonton-Centre MP, Randy Boissoneault guided the couple through their vows as the crowd smiled in their wedding best. Marni’s son Alex Panas, 12, walked them down the aisle to meet Kate Beneteau, whose brothers came from Windsor, ON, to see their sister married. After their first kiss as a married couple, son Alex threw handfuls of fresh flower petals while the crowd cheered.
